Dubai Festivals – Best time to explore the place

Dubai, one of the most visited holiday destinations in the world, bursts with merriment throughout the year. After all, one does not come across too many places where scores of colourful festivals call for gala celebrations at any given point of time. While talking about festivals, the names of Dubai Shopping Festival and Dubai Summer Surprises immediately spring to mind. Amongst all Dubai Festivals, the Dubai Shopping Festival has attained somewhat of an iconic status. This month long festival turns the already thriving shopping scene into a dazzling extravaganza during January and February. Besides astronomical discounts, shoppers are also given unbelievably fabulous gifts like Porsches and diamonds.

As far as Dubai Summer Surprises is concerned, it can be called the summer version of the Dubai Shopping Festival and was prompted by the resounding success of this festival. The Dubai Summer Surprises is pretty similar to its winter counterpart with the difference that it is more family oriented as kids have their summer holidays during this time. This is also the time when Dubai Hotels can be secured for a steal.

However, shopping is not the only highlight of festivities in Dubai. There are worlds of other annual festivals that are celebrated with equal aplomb, if not more. One such festival is the Dubai World Championship. With prize money of some ₤4.86 million, it is supposedly the most expensive golf tournament in the world. The championship would be held from 25th to 28th November. After that it is time for the Dubai International Film Festival, which ranks amongst the premiere global film festivals. Held during December at Dubai Media City, this festival sees submissions from over a 100 nations in the form of feature films, short films, and documentaries.

This is not all. There is a galore of other groovy occasions like Festival Latino, Gulf Bike Expo, Dubai Desert Classic, Prelude to the Emirates, and Desert Rock Festival to name just a few star highlights from an entire galaxy of entertainment.
