A Synopsis of Emirates’ Cabin and Checked Baggage Policy

For most sybarites who book hotels in Dubai for blissful vacations, Emirates remains the preferred choice of airline. It comes as no surprise as the airline is famous for offering highly favourable baggage policies.

However, be it is a time-pressed business traveller booking Dubai hotels near the airport or a leisure vacationer booking hotels near the beach; it is important to get acquainted with the cabin and checked baggage policy of Emirates to score gratifying flying experience with the airline.

Hand Baggage

Sybarites planning luxury holidays to Dubai and booking business or first class tickets may carry one piece of hand-held briefcase plus either one handbag or one garment bag as cabin baggage. The dimensions of briefcase must not exceed 18 x 14 x 8 inches and the dimensions of handbag must not exceed 22 x 15 x 8 inches with the total combined weight of both pieces not exceeding 12kg. However, economy class passengers are allowed to carry one piece of hand baggage that may not exceed measurements of 22 x 15 x 8 inches and must weigh no more than 7kgs.

Checked Baggage

Emirates’ checked baggage allowance widely depends on the travel class and frequent flyer program (Skyward). Non-members of Skyward planning luxury Dubai holidays and booking first class tickets are allowed 50 kgs as free baggage, business class passengers are permitted to carry 40 kgs as free baggage and economy class passengers are allowed 30kgs as baggage entitlement.

Skyward Silver and Gold program members are entitled to an additional free baggage allowance of up to 12 kgs and 16 kgs, respectively.
