Is your marriage going through a rough patch? Do not worry. You are not alone. Millions of young couples are stranded in similar circumstances in their marriage.
In line with the changing social realities, travel agents have launched special ‘Divorce Tourism’ packages for couples who want to give a last shot to rescue their marriages. Call it an endeavour to introduce an element of novelty in a saturated market or a genuine attempt to save troubled marriages; travel agents, for sure, have succeeded in spotting a niche in the market that, unfortunately, has a lot of growth potential.
India, for long seen as a country where marriages are strongly believed to lay strong foundations of the society, is catching up with the tour operators offering divorce holidays to couples. Choice of India as a preferred destination for such packages may also have resulted from a relatively high success rate of marriages that the country enjoys.
However, couples who do not want to spend their holidays to India can choose offbeat international destinations like the Czech Republic, Jordan, Maldives & Spain to spend some quality time with each other. Often these are all-expenses-paid holidays gifted by a well wisher who is either a close relative or parent.
The modus operandi employed by these travel agents is to send such couples on group tours where one of the members of the group is a marriage counsellor. His or her main task is to talk to the couple during the trip and acquire an understanding of the problems that have beset their relationship and offer constructive solutions to both partners. However, some travel agents believe that such marketing strategies which feed on the unhappiness of frustrated couples are inherently unethical and are bound to fail.
Now instead of recommending lawyers, you have one better option to suggest to a warring couple who you think are at the verge of a divorce.
