Hong Kong is One Big Bang of a Holiday

Hong Kong makes for a whirlwind holidaying experience. With spoilers like gigantic shopping arcades, delectable multi ethnic cuisines, the city charms its way into the heart long before the holiday is over. Be it ferry riding amidst mesmerising scenic beauty or checking out the magnificent temples – one can be assured of a wonderfully fun-filled luxury holiday to Hong Kong. The magic of the city lies in its uniqueness. Even something as simple as draining out cup after cup of the local tea or slurping away on noodles and dim sums has its own brand of indescribable charm.
If you have a thing for temples, then head to the Wong Tai Sin Temple. This temple is a wonderful blend of Buddhist, Confucian, and Taoist traditions and stands in the memory of Wong Tai Sin, an alchemist who supposedly concocted a magic potion which could cure all ailments. The temple is a treat to the eye with its elaborate latticework decorations, red pillars, and golden ceiling. Wong Tai Sin Temple is a sight to behold when the Chinese New Year celebrations are under way.

Those with an obsession for shopping inevitably end up at Times Square. In fact, vacations to Hong Kong are simply not complete without a visit to this mammoth retail plaza with as many as nine floors dedicated to shopping. If Times Square proves a wee bit too overwhelming, then try out the Western Market with its delightful old world flavour. This is a red brick Edwardian structure where people can pick up curios and souvenirs. Check out the first floor for some fabulous silks.

History bugs can have their fill at the Hong Kong Museum of History. This is a veritable treasure trove of interesting exhibits dating right back to the prehistoric times of Hong Kong. A major hit is the replica of an entire street. Some of the other highlights are traditional costumes, period photograph collection, and replicas of old village dwellings. If you have had enough of the long lost past, then take a stroll through the Statue Square. This place is a window to some modern feats of architecture like Bank of China, Legislative Council Building, International Finance Centre, St John’s Cathedral, and the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC). Among these, the International Finance Centre has served as the set of hit movies like Tomb Raider II and The Dark Knight. Truly holidays to Hong Kong have something of everything.
