Megalomanic Dubai

Dubai personifies megalomania with epithets like ‘City of Gold’ and ‘City of Merchants’. Rapidly mushrooming malls, the world’s tallest hotel (Burj Al Arab), the three Palm Islands (the biggest manmade islands ever) and the titanic project of ‘The World’ bear evidence to the opulently mad land of Dubai. Dining in the Burj Al Arab’s sky high restaurant is like sitting in the clouds. The city has earned another distinction of being home to the world’s tallest building with the Burj Khalifa’s recently inauguration. A luxury holiday to Dubai takes you on a tour of plentiful wonders, be it heart thudding dune bashing and wadi bashing jeep safaris in the desert and in dry river beds or long camel safaris that recreate traditional desert life. The magnificent Majlis Ghorfat Um-Al-Sheef and Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum's House overflow with grandeur.

The shopping scene bursts with souks (bazaars) dedicated to almost every conceivable product under the sun, notably the Gold Souk, Spice Souk, Fish Souk and Electronic Souk. Gold is dirt cheap at the Gold Souk while the aroma at the Spice Souk is deliriously delightful. The sandy Jumeirah beach with its smattering of beach resorts is ideal for beach side luxury, but if you miss the snow back home, head to Ski Dubai – an indoor ski resort. The abundant availability of luxury holidays dubai makes a pocket friendly destination.
